Getting jazzed about Relay
I have been to Relay University and I couldn't be
more excited about this year's event.
Walking away from my first Relay University
yesterday afternoon, I was totally charged. The electricity, excitement and
enthusiasm was palpable.
The two days of
programs filled me with ideas and desire to take on all of the challenges our
Relay for Life in Vance County.
I want to
be a team captain and lead my team with the new theme, team name, song and
fund-raiser I picked up at Relay U. I have at least five new committees I want
to lead. And I picked up dozens of new ideas that can build on the success we
have already experienced in 11 years of
Relaying.
The truth is, though, that I
cannot be a team captain, a leader of five committees and be true to my new job
of 2006 event co-chairwoman.
I hope I can
safely speak for Donald Ray and say that we are very excited about being asked
to lead the next Relay. I know I am thrilled to be teamed up with Donald Ray and
we both have many ideas and hopes of being effective leaders and making a
difference in the fight against cancer.
What I cannot do (and even Donald Ray cannot do) is Relay without
you.
We need team captains and committee
leaders and we need people to help these folks do the dedicated work it takes to
make Relay happen.
We want to defeat
cancer and make a noticeable difference in the lives of those who have faced
cancer.
It is important to me that you
catch the spirit that is now leading me as I focus on Relay 2006. I want to
share the excitement with you, my Relay friends, as we plan and prepare.
So, get
ready!
You’ll be hearing from me and
from Donald Ray. We want you to be part of the 2006 Relay.
Come on!!! Let’s all be part of the
community taking up the fight against
cancer!
